Jim Mangan was recently in a two person exhibition titled, Flash Flood, with long time friend Peter Sutherland at Muddguts, Brooklyn. Earlier this year his Time of Nothing and Notom series exhibited at the 2014 Sundance Film Festival in an exhibition titled, Space (with artists: Lee Freidlander, Juergen Teller, Nan Goldin, Todd Hido, Jack Pierson, John Divola, Mike Brodie and Catherine Opie). In 2013 he received a Gold Lead Award by the Lead Academy, Hamburg, Germany for his project Bedu, the final story in his trilogy on the subject of rebirth. It showed for three months at Deichtorhallen's House of Photography in Hamburg. It first exhibited at Nada Art Fair at Miami Art Basel and at The Hole Gallery, NY, NY in the fall of 2012. Bedu was the cover story for Vice magazine, August, 2012. His project Time of Nothing exhibited at the 2013 Museum of Contemporary Art Utah and was a solo exhibition at Martha Otero Gallery, Los Angeles during the spring of 2013. Mangan's story, Color'd, is published by Dashwood Books, was featured as a solo exhibition in November, 2011 at Country Club Projects, Los Angeles, and was the cover story for the 2011 Vice Photo Issue. Color'd is part of the New York Public Library Photography Collection and the MOCA Los Angeles artist books. it is a follow-up to Mangan’s 2010 project, Winter’sChildren. It was initially published by powerHouse Books. The Winter’s Children book is included in the Artist’s Books at MoMA and the MCA Chicago, and was on exhibit from September 1, 2011 - November 1, 2011 at Kunsthalle Athena, Athens, Greece.
