The Smell of Us, Larry Clark’s latest movie, is about a group of young skaters in Paris. Continuing his ongoing exploration of youth culture in a new country, Clark teamed up with by French poet Mathieu Landais aka S.C.R.I.B.E. to write the script and French cinematographer Hélène Louvart who has worked with many amazing directors such as Wim Wenders, Agnès Varda, Claire Denis, Christophe Honoré, Jacques Doillon, Nicolas Klotz, Sandrine Veysset, Marc Recha, Dorothée Smith and Léos Carax. The filming took place in Paris last year.
“I’ve wanted to make a film about French youth since I went to Cannes with my first film ‘Kids’ in 1995 … Scribe’s screenplay is about French kids today, and the world today. Just like my films ‘Kids’ and ‘Ken Park’, this will be a movie like you have never seen before.”-Larry Clark
The film is coming out in France in January. It will be accompanied by The Smell of Us official book to be published in January 2015 in an edition of 250 copies. You can pre-order until January 17th and shipping will take place on the 18th. The first 100 pre-orders will receive an exclusive movie poster signed by Larry Clark.
