Our friend Adam went on a road trip to Salvation Mountain and shared some of his photographs with us. Salvation Mountain is an art installation created by Leonard Knight (1931–2014) in Imperial County, California. It is covered with various murals and Christian sayings painted on top of an adobe and straw mountain. Cars, vans and buses and tractors surrounding the mountain have also been painted and various altars have been set up with visitors leaving their own touches. This unique installation has been declared “a folk art site worthy of preservation and protection” by the Folk Art Society of America.
