Colleen Heslin: Ballads from the North Sea

Colleen Heslin loves playing with the notion of painting, not so much as using paint on canvas but experimenting with different techniques such as dyeing and cutting fabric, reassembling it in different configurations and letting the irregularities and the naturally occuring changes in the material tell a story. This unusual “painting” style has stood out enough for her to win the 2013 RBC Canadian Painting Competition.

Her first exhibtion after winning is  Ballads from the North Sea at Galerie Laroche/Joncas in Montreal where she presented large scale monochromatic pieces.
