Gallery 295  is pleased to present five emerging local photographers. Index is the gallery’s first annual juried exhibition of emerging artists working within photography. This exhibition sets out to explore current trends and practices in contemporary photography, and also to act as a platform for younger artists to have their work recognized in a professional context.

The jurors for this exhibition from The Presentation House Gallery and The Vancouver Art Gallery selected the artists based on creative merit rather than on an overriding theme.

About Gallery 295

Gallery 295 is committed to providing space and facilities to support the finished production of photographic based works. Our mandate is to engage with contemporary photography and related practices, focusing on emerging Canadian artists. Through our association with THE LAB, we are able to provide much needed access to photographic and printing facilities in Vancouver, allowing young artists the means to complete and exhibit their projects.

Artists Michael Love and Jason Gowans have agreed to curate and direct the gallery. Their goals are to support emerging artists and generate a conversation about what is currently happening in contemporary photography.
