Daughters of Darkness, a 1971 film directed by Harry Kümel is based losely on the Hungarian countess Báthory Erzsébet who was rumored to have killed young women to bathe in their blood in a quest for eternal youth. The Belgian film takes place in an empty seaside resort during the winter, where the only guests are a newlywed couple, a mysterious countess and her aide. Beautiful cinematography and styling, eerie settings and spooky music throughout. (The whole film here while it lasts) Perfect for these stormy autumn nights…
