Mail Art Gallery is pleased to present A Word with You, an exhibition of new collaborative work by Barry Doupé and Dennis Ha. In addition to a new series of photographs, please join us for a book launch and reading at the gallery on Saturday at 1pm.

A Word with You is part of an ongoing collaborative process between Doupé and Ha, involving writing, sculpture, and music. In this series, the pair explore isolated domestic compositions made from construction paper. The photographs playfully address childhood craftmaking, stillness, and colour, while also reminiscent of stage prop storage rooms, after-party celebration scenes and art gallery administration offices.

Barry Doupé (born Victoria, BC) is a Vancouver-based artist primarily working with computer animation. His films have been screened throughout Canada and Internationally including the Ann Arbor Film Festival, International Film Festival Rotterdam, Pleasure Dome, MOCCA, Whitechapel Gallery, and the Tate Modern.

Dennis Ha (born in Hong Kong, SAR) is a Vancouver-based artist working primarily with photography. Ha has been involved with exhibitions at Blim, Future Tenant Art Space, and Yactac Gallery. He is a current curatorial resident at 221A with an upcoming project in the summer of 2013.

PS: 65th sure is a long way away from anything? Wrong! Make a day of it and enjoy all-you-can-eat Indian buffet at 49th and Main, stop by the exhibition at Yactac Gallery at Ontario and 56th, and load up on end of summer bbq items at Superstore for the way home. Bus ride from Broadway and Main to 65th = 20 minutes!
