The Future of the Photography Museum
by Lauren Cornell, Jefferson Hack, Erik Kessels, Alison Nordström
This year Foam celebrates its tenth anniversary. For this reason Foam has created a project exploring the future of photography, entitled What’s Next?. This question has been addressed throughout Foam’s anniversary year in different ways and in different locations. What is the future of photo graphy? For photography institutions? For Foam?
The year concludes with the exhibition The Future of the Photography Museum. Foam has invited four different guest curators from the inter- national cultural field to each realize their own proposal on the future of a photography exhibition. Based on their specific knowledge, they look at which exhibition models are relevant now and how they might be translated into a specific presentation.
Lauren Cornell (New Museum, New York)
Jefferson Hack (Dazed & Confused, London)
Erik Kessels (KesselsKramer, Amsterdam)
Alison Nordström (George Eastman House, Rochester)
The result is an intriguing exhibition with four distinct, even provocative, presentations. At various locations in the museum visitors are invited to actively participate.
