Golden Age
Marco Kane Braunschweiler and Martine Syms are artists based out of Chicago IL, and the duo behind the concept shop, Golden Age. Since 2007, Golden Age has carried publications, music, apparel and other editioned works created by artists, and has hosted numerous in-store art exhibitions. Golden Age has distinguished itself locally and internationally by focusing on alternative modes of making and selling art, carrying pieces that are straight forward, accessible, and moderately priced. Martine and Marco kindly took us into their favorite spaces in their home and in their newly re-opened shop.

This is the futon my mom bought when she came to visit us last year. We didn't have one and she refused to sleep on an air mattress.

Ye olde cinderblock shelf. Believe it or not, it took us two months to decide upon this solution.

Marco is the cook in the family. The black pot in the middle is our "popcorn pot." We live in a one-bedroom, so spend most of our time in either the kitchen or the living room/office/study/theater/etc.

(Left) Golden Age! We just re-opened in a 200 sq. ft. unit in an office building downtown. WE ARE PSYCHED. We really (really) want to have a party in the alley behind the building.
(Right) We were listening to DEEP THOUGHTS a mixtape by New York based designer Noah Venezia that was released by our BFFs The Kingsboro Press.

We're trying to show a 360-view, so pretend you've turned your body slightly to the right. Now imagine that one of us is standing behind the computer smiling and the other one is behind that door doing god-knows-what.

A few records and a secret message.

We choose books that are thoughtful, compelling, and beautiful.

These shirts say "Every Day's A Blessed Day." They were printed and designed by our good friend Lauren Anderson.
